trying to change oil pump on 2004 ram with 4.7..anyone no how to get the timing chain offff pleeease help!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to buy a 300 dollar timing kit made espicially for dodge timing

Your going to have to remove most everything in front of the engine. Then remove the front timing cover. Remove the Cam chain sprockets. Remove the cam chain idler sprocket idler bolt and then pull forward towards you and remove the last and final chain the runs from the crankshaft to the idler sprocket. If you even question your skill level don't attempt this repair. The oil pump is behind the last chain assembly you remove. So after you replace the oil pump you will need to replace the timing chains and tensioners at that point. Make sure you buy a reputable timing chain set. It will be pricey. No made in China stuff. You will regret the purchase. I have seen all kinds of failures from the cheap kits. after the chains are installed rotate the engine by hand at least two revolutions to be sure there is no piston to valve contact. If your off a tooth here and there and don't check this clearance issue you will destroy your motor upon start up. Very simple process to set the cams and chains up. But, you must understand what you are doing. Remember before you start. Top Dead Center is top dead center on the 4.7.It doesn't need to be on the exhaust or intake stroke. Just top dead center. This sets the cams into a neutral position for disassembly and reassembly. Very, very, important!!!!
