Passenger door won't lock

Asked by yopmytruck Oct 12, 2015 at 04:31 PM about the 2003 Dodge RAM 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've got a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. I been having this problem for a while
but never really decided to fix or look into it, but I've become pretty
annoyed by it now since I'm starting to invest more money into my truck.

The passenger door won't lock, it's always stuck in "unlock". I've got a
manual lock so you've got to actually push down the button thing, whatever
it is. Would really be helpful if someone could help me find a solution to this
as I rather avoid going to a mechanic and having to pay a ridiculous
amount to fix this problem as it only seems to be not that big of a problem.

Side note, I installed a remote door lock a while back, had no problems
whatsoever. Think this might be something that could be causing the
problem?

Thanks in advance.

PITA job but not that technical. First ...DO you hear the actuator when you push the lock button ? If not then your problem may not be in the door ...If you hear it then ~~~You need to remove the doors sides (most use a combination of small screws and push pins) IF U ARE LUCKY ... never happens to me but maybe you will get it ,,, have a flashlight and observe what moves when you pull the lock up/down ... next push the lock/unlock rocker switch and you will hear the actuator ... more than likely the rod came off the actuator ( Go on Google Images and find you door it will show you the linkage) Some are easy but some require some real dexterity
