any ideas why a 01 ram with 318 c. i. has no power at low end.

Asked by trucker Jun 29, 2010 at 06:58 PM about the 2001 Dodge RAM 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 01 ram has no power. stopped on dirt road with trk. in gear. Stab the gas pedal
and wont even turn the rear tires. Driving like timing is off or possibly the timing advance is not working. Any help would be appreciated. Oh , by the way there is NO
ENGINE LIGHT ON.

is the engine just racing its self? if so the trans could be slipping, another possiblity is the transmission for what ever reason is in limp mode. those trucks dont really have any adjustment to the timing unless you do it your self. sounds like to me the transmissions in limp mode though
