how do I change the brake switch on my 2001 dodge ram 1500

my brake lights stay on when I shut off my truck.

it should be a little black box with a white tip and it should just unscrew

Switch is probably ok just needs adjustment. The switch is just above brake pedal. There is a little plunger that is pushed in by the brake peddle arm. Push the plunger in and check if lights went out. If they did just adjust switch. If not look at switch being bad.
