2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Won't Idle
My truck had a leaking water pump a few days ago and shortly after the battery seemed to have bitten the dust also (unrelated I suppose). I changed the water pump and had a friend jump me with his car; the truck started but wouldn't idle. If I let my foot off the pedal it would die, but I could back the pedal off to around 600 RPM (about normal idle speed?) and it ran fine. It's almost as if the throttle linkage was out of adjustment. After it ran a while and warmed up it seemed to idle fine as I stopped at the store on the way home while my friend waited outside and it idled for a good 5 minutes. It also idled at every red light just fine. In the morning I'm going to start it up again and see if the problem occurs just when it's cold or not, but does anyone have any clues as to what could cause this? Could it be some idle setting gone bad from having a dead battery, me jumping it, etc?
