If you remove the voltage regulator and let the alternator run wild you will ruin the battery.
The voltage regulator actually has an important job. It keeps the battery voltage steady around 12.5 - 13.8 volts. You cannot bypass it. If you did, you would boil the battery by overcharging it.

No I ran an external voltage regulator I want to be able to use the gauge in my dash
