why does the check engine light come on every time it rains in my 97 dodge ram 1500

hey bro, we have gotta that alot in our 2001 dodge ram 1500 larmie and either we give it a couple days and it will go away( cause it may just be rain or somthing) or once we had the head gasket go and that really set us back money wise.. otherwise can't help yeh..sry

Does it have a digital odometer? If it does, you can pull the code number by doing this: Turn key on, off, on, off, on. This should display a code in the odometer. If you have an analog odometer, you're out of luck. Do you notice the truck running rough or anything else when this happens? You probably have an open connection or wiring that shorts when water gets on it, or throws the resistance out of spec when water is on it. I would check your cap and rotor, ignition wires, and any wiring underneath the truck such as 02 sensors.
