Truck acting weird in the throttle area

Asked by zandedan000 Jun 21, 2013 at 10:54 AM about the 1997 Dodge RAM 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 97 Dodge Ram 1500 sport with a 5.2 liter engine. I don't know how to exactly
explain the problem but when the transmission shifts into fourth gear i feel a pressure on
the throttle like something pushing back at me or like the truck like stutters when going
down the road. I thought it was because the fuel pump was causing the problem but a
week ago it went out on me and I got a new one but its still doing it. Please help!

Sounds like you need to get your OBD codes scanned, and eliminate much guesswork. Any large parts house will do it free. Since it's a 1997 it should have OBD||, you will get codes that begin with "P" for Power Train and four numbers. Write down the codes, bring them back right here, and one of us can advise what to do next
