I believe the reverse link in my '97 dodge ram 1500 is broke. Where is it at? Is it any easy or hard fix? About how much is it to fix?

My stepdad uses the truck for work. We believe he broke the reverse link. Im wanting to buy the truck from him. I need to see if it can be fixed without dropping a lot of money in it and if I will have to replace the transmission or not

There is no such thing as a Reverse Link. If it's an Automatic transmission - at least $1800 for an overhaul. If it's a standard, there's no telling until the technician gets into it. Help me understand what a reverse link is. Are you saying that the truck has no reverse?

No its doesn't have reverse, its an automatic. My step dad is looking like a total idiot at the moment
There's always the Wrecking Yard for a Transmission. A lot cheaper, a little riskier but usually, it works out. Oftentimes, you can buy a much newer transmission that fits your truck and everything works out fine. $1800 is if you take it to the tranny shop and they do it all.
