There is a clunk in my steering. Any idea how to fix it?

Asked by FFBEN Jul 23, 2013 at 03:57 PM about the 1995 Dodge RAM 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I slow down or when I accelerate there is a slight clunk felt in the steering.  Is there
an easy fix for this?

Thank you

click on this to make it bigger, then this is the tie rods for steering. Make sure they all are intact and tight, no parts missing etc.

Probably looking at Ball Joints and Control Arm bushings too as old as it is. Tie Rods Ends do make more sense for obvious noises though. If you do a little calling around, many Alignment shops will evaluate your front end for free. 1/2 hour Labor at the most. Don't let it go...it will only get worse (and perhaps dangerous) over time.
