what size battery is needed.  Headlights go off and on while driving battery seems to small.

I would check with your local auto parts store or dodge dealership. Although if the battery is starting the truck, the ca/cca should be adequate. It sounds more like it could be the headlamp switch.

if it's starting the truck no problem... it's likely a ground problem in the headlight circuits.... Check your grounds for connectivity, and the switch and the bulbs for corrosion before thinking about a battery

You are way off here, the problem is not your battery. Call a friend or a mechanic, electrical problems are far too difficult to troubleshoot online. Could be a magnitude of things.

Have the same truck, same problem a while back, turned out to be the headlight switch for me

Come to think of it, my buddy had a problem with his headlight switch in his ram...

check your switch for your lights first. but if you decide to put in a new battery you'll want one with atleast 900 cold craanking amps
