Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Got a 1995 Dodge ram 1500. 5.9
engine. Getting no joke about 1
mile to the gallon on my gas.
Runny rough when it changes
gears into overdrive dash looking
like it's going to shake off in the
floor board. Lots of smoke strong
gas smell. Turn it off go back out
to start 20inutes later so flooded
with gas it cranks and cranks and
cranks finally it will start smoking
out the tail pipe. Did the same
thing about a month ago for
about a week other than the gas
consumption. It decided one day
it would just end normal. 3 weeks
later out of the blue decides it
wants to run like crap again. Help
out fellas.

What color is the smoke out the exhaust? Blue is oil burning, black is you are running rich, white is coolant. Run-in rough when changing gears might indicate a transmission issue. Any recent maintenance?
