Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I sove the car on a bad bearing for a couple months... trust me I wouldn't of had I had the money for repare. I
had the wheel bearing replaced three days ago now the car gets the worste gas mileage ove overseen and the
computer doesn't seem to calculating correctly. In the "range" setting it could say I have 36 miles to go. As I drive
the "range" will go down to 2 miles to go, however, the odometer says I went 18 miles all the while the "average
mpg says that I'm getting 16.4 mpg all downtown driving. This doesn't make sense to me and $10.00 of gas
@$3.25 should get me more than 20 miles. Despite what the computer says now I used to get 14 mpg, or so in
town. Is there anything a person could do to effect performance without griping the service light on the dash?

Thank you, I did that and now it saying I get 18.6 MPG in town and burned a quarter tank according to the gauge. I forgot to count the miles, however, a problem I see immediately is the transmission doesn't shift up into OD while cruising at 40-50. Even while I'm accelerating easily to reach the speed of 40-50 MPH and the transmission will.not let go of fourth while maintaining 2200P

I forgot to count the miles, however, a problem I see immediately is the transmission doesn't shift up into OD while cruising at 40-50. Even while I'm accelerating easily to reach the speed of 40-50 MPH and the transmission will.not let go of fourth while maintaining 2200 ROMs. Normally while cruising at that speed on level flat surface the car will up shift, now it runs in higher RPM before it shifts up and burning up my money. The computer and the odometer have to different calculations.

I’m only 16 and I bought this car for an easy 3,000! I have found that if you get the right seller the car is reliable. The car if taken good care of can be a fun and sturdy car. There are minor problems with out dated thing but with a little bit of cash this is easily fixed. I hope this car can be flipped later on for around 5 grand. The acceleration/shift is a little funny and at some speeds it will not shift. Theses spots are in very important areas of speed 30- 35 and 40-50. Sport mode changes this but gas goes by fast and will need a frequent fill up. In my opinion it’s a great car for a starter or just for a little fun before it dies on you. You will want to run at least 93 octane gas in the xtype do not ever put anything less or tou will potentially lose power acceleration and drastic gas mileage. These cars are designed when running properly and efficiently to get 23.0 miles per gallon even in sport mode with 1 to 2 miles per gallon decrease if you drive without sport mode. Check your fuel rail pressure sensor located on end of your fuel rail i had changed mine out and noticed a big performance gain. Oh and do not use a cheap replacement aftermarket part only use ford fuel tail pressure sensor as ford bought out jaguarin early 2001/2002.Change fuel filter and ensure you have newer plugs and wires.

Point being these jags will treat you well but they must be maintained properly !
