Question about AC condenser

Asked by hjvhj Aug 29, 2022 at 03:41 AM about the 2006 Kia Rio

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2006 Rio's AC condenser is in a bad shape and the replacement would be
costly. Can i just...not replace it? Will it cause damage to other parts or is the
only consequence that i have no AC?

Since the condenser sits in front of the radiator if the fins are damaged and restricting the airflow through the condenser the airflow will also be restricted through the radiator. This will cause the engine to run hotter than normal or, if bad enough, overheat. But if the condenser is in good physical condition the only thing will be you'll have no air conditioning. It will be ok to just leave it in place. Hope that helps! Jim
