which fuse/relay controls the driver's power seat for a 2006 Kia Sorento EX???

Asked by Kae Apr 04, 2013 at 12:29 AM about the 2006 Kia Sorento

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My driver's power seat won't recline.  All of the seat controls work except THAT one.  It'll go up, it just won't recline back.  I need to test the fuse/relay, but I'm unsure where it is in the fuse box diagram.  I wanna test the fuse/relay before thinking that it's the motor.  Where can I find that fuse or relay?

Any help appreciated...

" It'll go up, it just won't recline back." -- The problem is not electrical. If it goes up, the fuse, wires and motor are good. The seat uses the same parts for moving in both directions. Your problem seems to be in the switch that reverses the polarity in the wires. You may be able to take the switch apart to check and clean it. Someone on eBay might have another switch for sale.

Hi, just finished fixing mine. The problem is the contacts in the micro switches. They get a carbon deposit on them due to continual arcing during use. The problem can be fixed by rubbing them on fine emery paper. The seat controls are attached to the plastic cover around the seat base. Take out three screws and rip the plastic off. You will break some clips, but this can't be helped. The switches can be taken apart, but be careful not to lose bits. The fixed part of the contacts can be cleaned by scraping with a small screwdriver. I have a 2009 sorento. Good luck, Keith.

I just replace the switch on the side of the drivers seat. On line you can pay from $20 bucks to $150 for the same switch. It took about 15 minutes to remove the plastic trim and replace the switch. I found a seat and bought it and a working switch was available on it. Easy to change out that switch!
