Transmission fluid replacement

The transmission in my 2006 Mazda Miata MX5
slipped while driving three days ago. It hasn't
slipped since. I have an appointment to drain and
replace transmission fluid, and replace filter. I'm
the original owner but don't know if the
transmission fluid has ever been changed because
my husband used to take care of it. Just over
154,000 miles I hope this will take care of it since
it hasn't slipped since. What next if I continue to
have issues? I'm concerned about putting more
money into a car this age but I love my Miata.I just
spent $1400.00 on a new top.

That is what I feared. I'm a little leary of rebuilt transmissions. Can a new transmission be found for a 2006 Mazda Miata MX5? I don't want to borrow trouble. Maybe it will be fine after it's serviced.

The Aisin 6sp autobox is very durable, and I believe relatively unchanged from 2006-2015, so there are a lot available in the salvage markets.
