Our 2006 Mazda Tribute's gas pedal 'sticks' when you try to accelerate. We are the original owner of the vehicle and have not had this problem until recently. This is very dangerous! After slowing

Sticky butterfly in the intake? Remove the rubber air intake hose (connects air filter box to throttle body / intake) from the throttle body. Grab an old toothbrush and a can of Gumout and scrub away the residue on the butterfly and surrounding air intake pipe.

Thanks Tam! My Mazda runs as good as new! Purchased a can of 'Throttle Body Cleaner' and my 'repair pals' did as you suggested. There was quite a bit of carbon that had built up (I assume that was the reason the pedal was sticking). Anyway.. the cleaner cost about $5 and it took them about 15-20 minutes.
thank you I also a 2006 mazda Tribute and it does the same thing! I had a car full of kids in my car and the gas got stuck and wouldnt go had to coast to the side of the road happenes alot!
he problem is with the cruise control cables, which, when moved from their original positions, can swing and snag on the plastic engine cover, potentially causing the throttle to stick when it is fully or partially pressed down. Google: Mazda Tribute throttle recall
iam having the same problem specially on the freeway and have that a long time took it too numerous garages and they couldnt find any thing wrong i thought i was going crazy so i google up to see and i found this.
Yes you gotta buy some of that throttle body clean up aka spray can and spray your air intake throttle body hose once you disconnect it.
