my Miata will not start after the alarm went off for no apparent reason

car was sitting in driveway and alarm went off x2 then stopped.
I went out to turn it off and the car was dead..no lights on dash or any sound
with key turning
it was just given maintenance and a new battery.

Sounds like the system shorted out, check all your wires for exposed inside wiring, If you have a circuit tester it would be great. Battery terminals sometimes get corroded. Check those. Turn your lights on, see if the work, brake lights etc. Check under the dash, someone may have tried to hot wire it. That's the best I can tell you.
