CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE OR PARK

DRIVING NISSAN MURANO 2006 AND WHEN i WENT TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE THE CAR WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO SHIFT.  TURNED CAR OFF AND THEN COULD NOT RESTART.  PUT KEY IN IGNITION AND TRIED TO START WOULD NOT BUT WAS RUNNING OFF BATTERY.  TOOK KEY OUT AND TRIED STARTING AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO BUT STILL COULD NOT SHIFT PASS NEUTRAL.  I WAS PUSHED OUT OF MY SPOT AND DROVE TO DEALER.  ONCE I GOT TO DEALER HAD SAME ISSUE BUT EVENTUALLY ONCE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND ON AGAIN THE SERVICE MAINTENCE DISPLAYED ON MY SCREEN AND CAR WOULD SHIFT PASS NEUTURAL INTO REVERSE AND PARK.  NOW DEALER CAN'T' FIND A PROBLEM SO IS READY TO GIVE CAR BACK.  I AM AFRAID I AM GOING TO GET STUCK AGAIN.  DO YOU THINK TRANSMISSION IS STARTING TO GO? I AM ORIGINAL OWNER WITH 76k MILES

Kiarmac - Your 2006 Nissan Murano's transmission is covered by Nissan's 10 year or 120,000 mile warranty from Nissan. So your Murano is STILL under warranty with Nissan for the transmission - 100% sure!!! Go to a Nissan dealer, and they will help you out.

I had the same problem and took it to the mechanic...issue was with the fuse . It was blowing off don't know why but I replaced it and started working now. Until then I inserted a key in the shift lock for shifting gears.
