Volkswagen golf 2006

Asked by Maureen Oct 28, 2018 at 08:04 PM about the 2006 Volkswagen Golf

Question type: General

I bought a used vw golf
three years ago. So far I
have had to replace three
clutches, and my
transmission went out.
Talk about a lemon! The
tranny fluid was fine.
What gives? Are these
things normal for the
transmission of a VW Golf

If we are talking about automatic transmissions, I know there is a very specific fluid that goes in them. Some of these shop clowns take out red fluid and dump in red fluid. Color is not the way fluid is identified. Wrong fluid ruins internal clutch material fast. Now if we have manual transmission clutches failing that fast would be slippage from improper use or misadjusted.
