i would check the MAF sensor, if it has a fault it goes into limp mode and runs on fixed parameters, most of the time that won't allow the car to go over 3000 rpm
make sure your not using the valet key too, the car doesnt go over 3k or 4k rpm's with the valet key
I know this probally isn't much help but I am having the same issue. Maybe you can save some money here, I have replaced the camshaft positioning sensor, spark plugs and wires and the problem was not solved.... Thinking the knock sensors next than the speed sensor.
I had a similar problem a few years ago with misfiring cylinders
now i had posted about the cam sensor and after alot of wasted money it turns out that I had purchased a defective cam sensor...... when i scanned the computer the camshaft sensor code displayed...... changed the sensor and the car is as good as new.. this was on the 2.0 vw engine
I'm having the same issue what your engine code?
Same issue. Not only does my car not go Rev past 3000 rpm. It takes twice as long to fire up upon Starting. I've just recently replaced the coil pack, all wires and spark plugs. Then the issue occured. I replaced the cam sesor because it coded for it but it didn't fix it. Car still coded a cam sensor. Going bad today to get another cam sensor free of charge for the faulty one.
My 2005 2.0 Jetta wagon 5spd won't go over 3,000 rpm. I have done plugs, wires, coil, crank position sensor and vss. What is valet mode?
