2001 engine swap

Asked by Vectormax12 Sep 17, 2019 at 06:16 PM about the 2001 Volkswagen Jetta

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My father in law has a stock base model auto
Jetta. What would it take to manual and TDI
swap it? The original motor Grenaded itself
and we both want to just put a 1.9 TDI into it
and getting it running before we do anything
else. Can anyone help?

Honestly U could try junk yards since the car is old as dirt. I personally loved the 5 spd TDI model. My grandfather bought his brand new in 2000 and i enjoyed my childhood riding in that car getting 600+ on a tank of fuel. Go from Jax fl to newport news VA. He gifted it to me and my wife and I traded her in for a 2016 Mitsu outlander. Time of trade in she had 129k miles on it and still ran strong as the day we got her. back to topic you could ask the dealership near you on what you could do or for advice. Maybe try Ebay or the VW Jetta forums.
