can i raise the rpm to 1200 on my vw beetle

Why don't you just replace the oil pressure sensor? If you know the oil pressure is good, then you would not have to raise the RPM's of the engine, just live with the light on. Also raising the RPM's of the engine will throw trouble codes, check engine light will come on, and the engine eventually will not run right.

not the oil pressure sensor, its the tensioner, vw quoted us 2400$ to replace it.... its a 2001 with 145000 miles, just spent 2000$ on timing belt, front end work tires etc..... just trying to get a few more miles out of it....

This does not make sense. Why wouldn't the timing belt tensioner be replaced in the firs place since the timing belt was being replaced? That is just a total set-up to bring your vehicle back.

evidently this motor has timing belt on one side and drive chain on the other side? i asked the samer question. this is the drive chain tensioner

I still don't know what this has to do with the oil pressure. Just replace the oil sending unit.
