VW beetle overheating

Asked by Jan5429073 Apr 04, 2014 at 09:50 AM about the 2000 Volkswagen Beetle

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 VW beetle that recently had a radiator flush and new coolant put in.  Now I can drive it for 20 minutes and it starts to overheat.  If I turn it off the problem resolves itself for another 20 minutes.  The thermostat was replace 2 weeks ago.  There is a small coolant leak, but I keep the coolant level topped off.  Any ideas/

Can't have a coolant leak- the cooling system is supposed to be pressurized in order to do its job- also, when replacing coolant, care must be taken to get all the air out of the system-
