Asked by golf98new Aug 08, 2009 at 09:30 AM about the 1998 Volkswagen Golf

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello:

I have a 1998 golf, when I am driving at night the headlights will just randomly shut off.  The dash lights are still on, cannot understand what the problem is.

Can somebody help me with this problem?

Thanks

check on vortex, only thing i can think of is that your hand brake sensor might be malfunctioning which turns off the headlights when the e brake is engaged

Check your wiring from your fuse panel all the way to the headlights, it could something as a simple as an exposed wire, open connection or partially broken wire. Good luck.
