you could've saved yourself the question simply by looking up what Vtec actually is! i assume you're talking about the honda vtec. Vtec is a special style head and cams that allows it to follow a different cam profile above a certain RPM by activating an extra rocker that engages an extra lobe on the cam. so NO. you can't get vtec on your jetta, and in all reality you don't want/need it. Honda used it to get more power out of smaller displacement engines, and most honda drivers and tuners (esp. ricers) will make you think that vtec is like some huge boost in horsepower, but it's not. does it make the car perform better? yes. does it provide a big surge of power like a turbo? heck no.

the explanation of vetec already given here is perfect. i have an rsx with the ivetec and its cool, you definitely know when its kicked in. but truth is lots of other companies have their own vtec set up. its not about the "huuuuge" power or whatever. but as for not wanting or needing it BS. Need, maybe not. Want, hell why not, its sweet. cant imagine my dc5 without it

just drill into the side of your valve cover, and add a centricial clutch and attact it to the cam gears

you own a car with out vtec? u cant do it. unless u spend some big stack. so dont listen to wat anyone says

vtech phones have absolutly nothing to do with vtec on a car, its variable valve timing. if u want vtec, or ivtec get a honda.

Ok, straight answer, if you want Vtec in a Jetta your best bet is to just swap a Honda motor into your VW, thats the easy way. Otherwise you are looking at reworking the entire top end of your motor.

Go on to a VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) forum and ask about/look for topics and information on aftermarket camshafts. There's probably an established engineering company somewhere that make cams ready-to-fit. Investing in vernier pulleys would also be a good idea. Mild/lumpy/fast-road cams are not the same as vtec but will improve the figures for the engine at higher RPM. The side effect is lack of economy and driveability at lower RPM.

wow i feel bad id sell it and actually get a Honda instead of trying to say you like Volkswagen but secretly like Honda thats a dumb idea. and not to be mean but if you don't even know what Vtec is just leave your car alone.

okay the vtec motor is nothing fancy the vtec motor is a gain of 10 horsepower cause of the extra solenoid and shit you have to add to it a standard b or d series honda motor will do just as good and tuning in a turbo and boring it out will be way easier cause then you dont have all the extra crap to work with my 90 integra hasw a honda b18b1 bored out to a 1.9 upgraded crank, pistons, rings, smoother bearings removed all the ac shit stage 3 clutch and a 16 pound turbo pushing almost three hundred horse great smooth runner make sure u replace valves and rocker arms stock cams can be ran to a little over three hundred horse . my point is that u dont need a vtec motor to be fast changing to vtec adds more weight to it its not much but still vtec motors are way over rated stick to standard standard b series motors come with almost 180 horse stock build it and waist people almost 300 horse is v8 killer no question asked especially in a 4 banger
