AGM BATTERY FOR RIDGE AND INTERIOR LIGHTS

Asked by GuruD4CHJK Jul 12, 2023 at 02:04 PM about the 1993 Volkswagen EuroVan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I HAVE INSTALLED two 12 volt Rolls Deep cycle batteries in the rear battery
compartment of my Eurovan camper.  While camping I smelled "something "
like sulfur / electrical which woke me up.  I didn't think you could smell
Hydrogen off gassing.  I wonder if I should have only one battery to prevent
overcharging as the Rolls support team questions.  OR  could it be the
CHARGING system?

If you smell sulfuric acid gas and the batteries are in good condition then the charging system is not regulating the charge rate, this will ruin good batteries, so better have it checked.

That gas is flammable too! Sounds like the batteries are being overcharged. Hope that helps! Jim
