What would cause the AC to stop putting out air through the vents? I can hear the whoosh of air, but nothing is coming out of the vents. Same for AC off and only fan on. Diverter not working?

i would say diverter by your description, is it coming from the floor or defroster? If so when you change positions does it change from def to floor?

Thanks Dustin...right now...it starts off normal, that is the cool air is coming from the upper duct. But then just stops coming out...I can "hear" the air...but not sure if it is coming out of the defroster or other place. I don't think it is because the car gets awful hot all of a sudden. That is how we discovered it. So cool air is being generated, it is just not coming out of the vents...and doubt it is coming out anywhere, or else the car would not feel so hot. Playing with the controls doesn't do anything either. I mean, even with AC off, just normal fan doesn't work either,so it must have something to do with "diverting" the air into the duct system. Can't be sure, but I would guess the heater would be doing the same thing. Weird...
Most cars (not sure on Volvo) have "doors" inside the ducts that are vacuum operated. Unfortunately there is not many shops that will mess with a volvo or tearing apart a dash to mess with it, and we all know how expensive the dealer is

Thanks Chris...I was hoping it was something simple. I know what you are talking about...some of my older cars had those sticking doors, but they were easily found and fixed...Appreciate the help! George in Virginia
