Is anyone else having a whole lot of problems with their Volvo S60?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
It seems like every year from 2009 when I got the car to now I have had to have a major
fix done costing up to or near $1,000 each year. I have spent more money fixing it that I
have paid for it and I'm tired. I love my volvo but is it really worth the trouble anymore?

Volvos are high maintenance- the old ones established a reputation for reliability, but Volvo lost it some where along the way- you know the pain, now it's time to get rid of the Swedish Meatball-

I had an 04 S60. Yeah, around 700 bucks each year. Engine ignition problem. Buy an s80?
Volvo lost relaibility, when they discontinued the 240 series in 1993. Leave the Swedish meat ball for edible purposes only. Go Toyota or Lexus.
2004 S60 2.5T with 140k miles. Transmission required the three solenoids in the fleabay kit. (The old solenoid magnets were clogged with a grey paste). Transmission was perfect after that. Then the dreaded and random 'reduced engine performance' message showed up. Replaced the TCM with a junk yard TCM and no change. Bought the computer removal tool to replace the computer. Removed computer but after inspection of it I put it back in because it looked perfect and had no burn smell. After putting it back in...No problems at all. Has run and driven perfectly for a couple of months. I think there was some minor corrosion on the pins of the computer and the harness that I cleaned off by the simple removal and re install of the computer. Worth a try before a trip to the dealership or worse the junkyard.
