nothing lasts forever- not even me- or you- sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings- and you say "a life time" man, cars are not "alive" you better get that tranny serviced before you find out the true meaning of a "dead" Mercedes

MB is pretty firm about changing trans fluid and brake fluid on a regular basis. While many manufactures say to change some fluids at 100k miles, depending on your model, MB wants brake fluid every 2 yrs and tranny fluid every 3yrs or 36k miles. However, do not feel obligated to go to the dealer and pay MB prices. Any reputable garage can do this service. Assuming you plan to keep your "E", spend the few bucks to make it last.
