I have a 1997 Mercedes e320. It will not shift gears. I changed the conductor plate and put dextron lll transmission fluid in it and it still won't shift gears. Could putting the wrong transmission fluid it cause it to not shift. If so can I just drain it out and put in the right fluid to get it working properly?

Mercedes are very fussy about the transmission fluid you put in. Did you change the fluid or just add some?

make sure you are putting the fluid in the trans and not the engine . both tubes are very close to each other . the trans tube ,you need to take the air cleaner assy off first. Dennis (48 years MB tech)
