Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car would not crank over.  It was working fine, but when I came to car and tried to start, it would not crank over.  I have new battery and everything seems to work including the lights but turing the key to start would not crank over.  Please help

I finally figured it out. Somehow the alarm was not getting turned off when the key was inserted and crank the engine. When I fixed my remote alarm and disabled the alarm, the car cranked over without any problem. So it was not the NSS, battery, or other sensors. Alarm was not getting turned off when the door was openned with key or key was inserted to the ignitiaon and turned. Dealer did not know the symptom and was telling me to bring the car in. Well, saved lots of money by figuring it out by myself.

According to a "Marty" out in Internet Land, the reason the car will not start is because its neutral saftey switch is bad. It will likely start if you start your Mercedes in neutral. It worked for me. So, at least you can start your car and drive it to the mechanic rather than towing there.

Also check fuse #5. If its bad the starter relay won't get powered. Another symptom of a bad #5 fuse is the electric antenna won't operate.
