How many 1971 Dodge Challenger Convertible were produced with shaker hood
1971 Dodge Challenger convertible with shaker hood, 383 Magnum, 4 speed, pistol grip and spoiler kit. I know several convertibles were made and several shaker hoods, but the combination of both seems to be rare. I haven't found a way to factor in the shaker hood.

Dear Carly-- I am having trouble breaking down the production numbers to the degree you ask. The best I can tell you is that only 1,857 Dodge Challenger convertibles were built in 1971. I can't find how many had the Shaker hood. Good luck from Bovan.
Thanks Bovan, but this doesn't really help. I narrowed it down to #of convertibles with 383 magnum, 4 sp. just can't factor in the shaker. Thanks
Carly, In Galen Goviers Chrystler Corp. Production Option Code Book it has only 41 engine code "N", 300hp 383's with the 4 speed in a convertible. There is no breakdown as to how many were code N96 Shaker. Hope this helps. Tom1971
MY father owns one of those cars (1971 Challenger convertible w/ a shaker hood), and he has a Mopar magazine that put the number at 11.
MY father owns one of those cars (1971 Challenger convertible w/ a shaker hood), and he has a Mopar magazine that put the number at 11 (11 1971 Challenger convertibles made w/ shaker hood).
Here is a link that puts the number at 11 as well: http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=QuestionAnswer&Number=4983137&Searchpage=1&Main=4983137&Words=+drodg&topic=&Search=true It says on there that 11 Convertibles were made with the shaker hood for the challenger in 1971 (11 JH Convertibles (no R/T verts in 71)).
By chance would your car happen to be the 383 shaker red paint with white interior, white vinyl top, black shaker bubble, one owner car?
I, for once, luckily still hold on to a Challenger, 383 Ci, 4-speed, shaker, blue on blue
Eventhough I was out of playing car for 15 years, but luckily enough to hold on to the rag. If I remember correctly, the production was 12 rag with that feature but one with crushed and still only 11 left.

I have a 1971 challenger convertible, white with black top and black interior, 383 shaker 4 speed. Finding this inquiry about this car on line today is interesting because I acquired the car about 35 years ago just about this time of the year in Oneonta, NY and have essentially garaged it since taking it out a few times a year to give my kids a ride in days cool car. When I bought the car, the seller told me it was one of 11. My research 35 years ago indicated the same. I will gladly circulate the VIN and photos if anyone is interested.
And by the way ...Louhemi's car is gorgeous. Looks like he did his homework on his car. Congratulations. Let me know if your car is looking for his long lost brother of 11 from almost 50 years ago.

Dear Thread, My 71 383 Magnum Convertible with a shaker & 4 spd hurst pistol which I had for 10 years sold in 1986....what a fool I was. I was in Danbury, CT and sold it to a student at Eastern CT State in Willimantic. I've never seen it yet. Hope it wasn't wrecked. Someone knows... it was born Plum Crazy from a Mopar Dealer in Ansonia, CT...who's grandson rolled it...they repainted it Moondust Gold.
