Oh man I loved my Dodge Challengers (3 of them I owned including a 1971 that wasn't an SE)! I still have the nameplate from one of those cars on display in my office, in fact. I am pumped for the Challenger's return and it looks like they captured the spirit of the car nicely with the second coming (third generation)
Rumcoke 48, it appears that 3,700 SEs were produced in 1970 and it's unclear whether any were produced in 1971 according to this fine site on the history the Challenger. It seems they still offered plenty of unsold SEs in 1971.

I also know that slightly less than 30,000 Challengers overall were produced in 1971 and the 1971 SEs (according to another site)were reported to have an enlarged rear window which further indicates to me that your car is a carryover 1970.
This fan page (http://www.dodgechallenger.co.uk/) reports that the SE was dropped in 1971 and at the bottom of the 1971 page you'll find production numbers for that year.
There is also a page on this site that decodes your VIN# so this should give you a little entertainment and lot of info about your great car.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane and good luck with your Challenger!
