WHAT IS H.P/TOP SPEED FOR 1966 CHARGER 426 DUAL QUAD HEMI

Hello, The 1966 Charger 426 achieved 425bhp@5000rpm with 490lb-ft@4000rpm torque. It went from 0-60 in 6.4 seconds, and ran the quarter mile in 14.16. Not bad! Enjoy! CarGrrl
Uh, yeah. Got that answer off Wiki, right? Low end torque killed their times, but even a stock one would do a lot better than that. You had to check Road & Track, Car Craft, or some source like that for accurate numbers though. Big uncle was constantly threatening to legislate those engines off the road, so your manufacturer never coughed up the right stuff. But there was another problem. With the body roll of a coke bottle, brakes fit for a Nash Rambler, and springs that came from the inquisition, your chances of finding a top speed was ........... pretty bad. That's a big part of why the government utilized the emissions control laws to get rid of these things in 1972. Everybody was always building up their engines and trannys, but nobody knew how to mod a suspension. I lost a lot of friends in high school because of this. People should stick to the cars of today. They may be made of paper meche, but they handle so much better ............. they should have done that long ago. For whoever asked, why would you want to know the answer to this? Go to the library, and find an old copy of Hot Rod, Car Craft, or a similar publication. They now finally offer a faster car from the factory if you have the bucks. Unless you plan to build them like we did, but that's prohibitively expensive today. Keith Black. Costs money just to say that name.
