This seems like one of those "who would win - Superman or Spiderman?" type questions. =D The answer depends on the driver of each vehicle, as well as which engine is installed. I'll go with the base case here. The base Charger had a 318 V8 rated at 230bhp. The base engine for a Camaro was a250 I6 rated at only 155bhp. However, the V8 option for the Camaro was on the Z28: a 302 V8 rated at 290bhp. Now at the high end: The 1969 Charger 500 did the quarter-mile in 13.60 seconds at 107.44mph (only 32 officially produced). The Camaro ZL1 (only 50 produced) did the quarter mile in 10.41 seconds at 128.10. Overall, I'd bet the Camaro, but ya never know.
Depends on engine...1969 Charger RT 440 Magnum vs. same year Chevy Camaro 396...standard optioned trim levels just below premium engine choices (426 Hemi and 427 CoPo)...Charger RT 440 by a fender length in 1/4 mile. Depends on transmission and driver. However, if premium engine selection, Camaro/427Z wins 1/4 mile...BUT Beyond 1/4 mile...not even close, Charger/426 HEMI, once it has hit its peak powerband (5500-6000 RPM) is gone...it's a race engine
