1976 Dodge McDart - McDonalds Restaurant giveaway - Pics Please

I am looking for Pics or any info on the Dodge Dart(s) that McDonald's Restaurants gave away in the late 70's. It was yellow w/ a tan half vinyl top with a green and red Irish tartan plaid imprinted on the vinyl top with the same theme carried to the seats. It also had McDart labels With the "M" being in the same font as the McDonald's "M" logo of the day and in Tan with green and red tartan plaid pattern They called it the Dodge McDart. I believe 5 were awarded as prizes.

Did you contact Dodge Historical Society yet ? Look for information in the Hemming's Motor News under Dodge.

I was a District Sales Manager for Chrysler in 1976. Several hundred McDarts were made. They may not have had the special badging, but they had the funky color and roof. Most were wholesaled to dealers in the then Chicago Zone. Chrysler tried to use economy of sca!e when sourcing material, hence more units than the promotion required.

In those days, I worked for Globe Glass at their Hammond, Indiana location on State and Calumet Ave.... I remember our shop being contracted by McDonalds to install the Plaid Vinyl Tops and McDart Logos on the Dodge Darts... They may have also added the plaid Material to the seats, but I don't recall that.... I thought it was a unique idea......
