Best thing i've heard is to scrap the mikuni carb that's on it and do a weber conversion. I just ordered one for my 87 a couple days ago and should be in next week. check out www.webercarbsdirect.com The complete kit for the swap is only $259.99 with free shipping and includes everything you need to get it done (gaskets, bolts, adapter plate, air filter).
They made the Carborator in multiple vehicles The (K) car from chrysler had them a 1980 to 1987 Chrysler Labaron ( K ) car came with the 2.6lit motor and was front wheel drive but had the same Carb, and all the cars had the same TSB Bulliten for the Choke adjust and Idle srew adjustment Ball on thje end of the adjuster to be added. I KNOW THIS Because i worked for Diamler Chrysler for more then 25 yrs
you should go for a DGV series, like a 32/36 progressive. but you can go 38/38 syncronous like i did and get the same mileage with added power. a carb got that motor 5 hp and 5 torque and i still got 22mpg (4x4 truck with a camper top the sticker says it weighs 4650 lbs i soon went to a twin carb setup with 2 38/38 carbs, a head, higher compression pistons, high torque cams, a exhaust header and a turbocharger on 9 lbs boost, currently pushing 165 at 5700 and 230 at 3300. it is on the factory trans and 3.91 rear end. I have gotten it past 115 (pegged spedo) on a good stretch of highway and i still get 22 mpg after all that. it really depends on how you set it up and how you drive.
