If you see a car you like at a used lot or from a private owner, be sure to use the different car valuing websites to check what the suggested price is for the car. This will allow you to negotiate intelligently with the person selling the car. Information is always power. Also, be realistic and know that a car in this price range will most likely need some maintenance work, like brakes or tires. Some minor issues are not a reason to completely reject the car, just be aware of major issues like electrical problems, transmission or engine issues that will be a much more costly repair.
