88 wrangler. Getting about 7 mpg. Just installed rebuilt carb., no change. I can find no leaks or smell gas. Anything peculiar to Jeeps tha would cause this? Any help would be appriciated.BB

Just bought it 3 months ago and didn't realize the mileage was so bad.   Have too much money in it now to get it back and I like the Jeep.

Hello, Sorry to hear about your Jeep! What a bummer =( It could be a few different things. The first thing I would check is the oxygen sensor. Here is some advice on that: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/If_a_1997_Jeep_Wrangler_is_getting_horrible_gas_mileage_and_you_think_it_may_be_the_oxygen_sensor_where_are_they_located . Next, you may want to check the fuel injection system. If none of those seem to work, I would bring it to a mechanic and see what he can do with it. I hope it all works out! CarGrrl
