Smoking Wagoneer

Asked by Katelyn Dec 07, 2010 at 07:15 PM about the 1979 Jeep Wagoneer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1979 Jeep Wagoneer smokes when I press on the throttle, could it be because there is an oil leak somewhere in the motor, or do most of them just do that?

What color is the smoke? If it's white you are leaking coolant into the head. probably a new head gasket. If it's black it could be a head gasket or, a broken or worn piston ring.
