Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1986 Wagoneer Cherokee additionI need to know
what kind of engine I can put in there because I
don't think I'll be able to find what's in it originally
it's a V-6 2.8l but it's really hard to find parts for it
because it's the first year of the Cherokee build and
it still got a short Vin number and made by
American motors

That engine will be hard to find> Due to the fact that it fell out of production in 1986. IT was in your Wagoneer 1984-1986 of course but also came in the Chevy S10 1982-1986 And the GMc Jimmy 1982-1986. And the Jeep Comanchee 1986. Rebuilding that engine is an option and will likely cost about the same as swaping something else in. But the more modern and highly available 4.0 liter inline six was offered for that bodystyle. You will need a complete engine, including accessories.New engine mounts, exhaust system, radiator and a few other things will be needed to make this swap possible. Also depending on the transmission in the truck, it might need to be changed as well.
