Make sure who ever is replacing the cable that the entire new cable has grease on it before is is inserted in the sheathing....

Check to make sure the engine is properly grounded to the body. If there is not a proper ground, the throttle cable will try to complete the ground thus getting hot and burning.

I have a 1974 Beetle and the throttle cable keeps coming off. It doesn't break but slips off. Do I need a new cable or what can I do to keep it on? Please help.
