Will A 1971 Volkswagen run on unleaded gas without adding a gas addittive

Hi the unleaded makes the explosion happen at the wrong time, this leads to valves being burnt out and therefore a consequent lack of compression, this will only become marked at over 10,000 miles. You are always wise to add the additive, As another passing note, I ssume that this a beetle, there is a pipe which warms the inlet manifold which runs froom the exhaust, this can become chocked up with carbon deposits. remove the manifold and clear with a coat hanger wire on a variable speed drill at slow speed, otherwise freezing can occur regards, Bruce
Hmm, i work at a shop that services a fleet of old VW's and they all run unleaded without any issue.... Depends on what car you have i guess. Does it say anywhere to run leaded? The gentlemen above is correct, it certainly would not hurt to run an additive.
