Hard to get gears,after pipe change

I've a 72 semi-auto, I removed a pipe to replace going from the auto
in the top left going to the side,when I took it off I heard air being
released or being sucked in, now I've replaced the new pipe,I'm
finding it hard to find my gears, any ideas please

Oh my- you are messin' with some German black magic there- I didn't know there was one of those still operational- an amazing question- but I have no answer
