1973 vw bug power problem

Asked by Hondamxer07 Jan 06, 2016 at 11:40 PM about the 1973 Volkswagen Beetle

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I've been having a problem where I can
start my bug and have it run for a few
minutes then die. Tested the battery, put a
new alternator in it, checked almost all the
grounds I could find. What could it be?!

Have you changed the fuel pump lately?

All so could be coil getting hot and going bad.

I haven't. Didn't think it could even be a fuel pump, I've been set on it being something electrical

Would it makes sense to be the coil if headlights and dash lights stay on when cars dies? Troubleshooting would just be sticking a volt meter on and seeing if powers stays constant or not right?
