I want to sell my 1974 VW Bug....where can I get an accurate appraisal? We live in Salem Oregon.

Well, your best bet is to read the local classifieds and VW magazines and see what similar cars sell for. If you want to be semi-formal about it, consider joining your local VW club and asking some members. To be honest, a '74 bug isn't rare or desirable and hence not really worth anything, so unless it's in perfect showroom condition, you're looking at fairly low money. In general, the earlier a Beetle is, the more collectible it is, and the early split rear window single-tailpipe models are the ones which are the real classics. Oval windows are generally worth a bit too, but something like a '74 is just an old car, with very little collector value. So condition is everything.

In case anyones still following, its $2k to $6.5k depending on condish with full pro restos going for $10k plus. The reason they hold their value is that their body style and drivetrain design are relatively unchanged since beetles first came to be. Adding to that is the fact that there are reliable vintage cars. The condition of the underbody, floorpans, are key and usually where most money is spent during restorations... Basically rust was its enemy. Check ebay and local veedub clubs for the most up to date pricing.
