Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Belt broke and motor got really hot.  Melted the plastic on the spark plug wires that were in contact with the chrome plating.  Replaced wires, plugs, and belt.  It won't start.  What next?

if it got that hot, your probably not going to like the answer. first thing is to change the oil. second is to check and adjust the valves. they will get TIGHT when you overheat one. if after all that it still won't start, then you need to check to make sure your getting fire. could have melted the points, condensor, or even the coil. if everything checks out good, and it still won't start, then do a compression test to see if you melted the rings.
