Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just picked up a 74 super beetle.
The engine will not turn over via the ignition key
switch.  I'm trying to understand this, entirely to
new, beetle.
Question. ..what is the "SEAT SENSOR SWITCH"?
What is it's function?  (Normal open/normal
closed? )
What does it do or prevent?
And I can only assume it sends signal by body
weight?

There was seat sensor in the 1974 Super Beetle. At the time it caused me many headaches until a Automotive Electrical Technician removed the relay.
