I've got a 2007 Mitsubishi Spyder Eclipse with a "Service Engine Soon" light. AutoZone told me that it was the gas cap - it isn't. Today Firestone guessed that there was a leak or something in a "canister" somewhere around the gas tank and it would cost $500-$700 (maybe more) to fix it. Any ideas?

An evap leak could include the gas cap or ventilation for the fuel system. Did they give you the codes they pulled from the cars computer?

Gas tank is your problem, had this happen to mine same year. They tried everything, changed gas tank, perfecto. EXPENSIVE
